Hunting in North Cyprus
Hunting is a very well loved and practised past-time for the people of Cyprus. To experience to thrill of hunting in North Cyprus, make sure to visit the island between the months of October and February, keeping in mind it is only allowed on a Sunday. Everyone wishing to hunt must obtain a licence, and you may only hunt in the areas that the government has given permission for. The most popular creatures hunted are small prey like hares, partridges and pigeons. It is only possible to get your hands on a permit if you are a resident of North Cyprus.
Hunting Law in North Cyprus
The responsibilities of the Game and Wild Bird Law lay with the Interior Ministry. These include:

• Game Birds which are black partridge, pheasant, chukar partridge, snipe, quail, turtle dove, and greylag goose.

Bird Hunting
Although using lime to catch small birds is against the rules in south Cyprus, it is still an ongoing occurrence in North Cyprus. Over the years, there has been a noticeable decline in the number of small migratory birds and as a result a majority of conservation groups are trying to get the government to make this practice an outlaw.

Shooting Outdoors in North Cyprus
For those who love the adrenalin rush of firing guns, The Girne Gun Club, formed in 2001, is the place to be. Here you can enjoy outdoor shooting in the valley located on the gun clubs grounds. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an advanced shooter; everyone is welcome to experiment and try to successfully shoot the targets, which all vary depending on your skill levels. For a real challenge, try to visit the range at different times of the day. By the end of your holiday you will be a real expert.
North Cyprus Shotgun Rules
Feel free to bring your shotgun into North Cyprus, but please remember these do not include semi automatic weapons. All guns you bring with you into the country must also have their customs paperwork. You may obtain the paperwork through an agent. As a rule, all shotguns must be locked whilst not in use.
